Lillian brings skills to her work that she gained during an Ameri-Corp apprenticeship, and during her time as a program assistant with The Student Conservation Association. Lillian Holden is the Education and Outreach Coordinator at Openlands and works with volunteers, teachers, and staff to build and inspire advocates for nature. She is currently participating in the Urban Land Institute's 2021 Health Leaders Network.Įducation and Outreach Coordinator, Openlands Outside of MPC, she also serves on the boards of the Calumet Collaborative and Health & Medicine Policy Research Group. As a representative of MPC, she serves on the board of the Illinois Environmental Council, and is a community co-chair of the Partnership for Healthy Chicago. Chloe received her master’s degree in public health from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). She brings this background in identity-based education into her role as Co-Chair of MPC’s Equity Committee. Examples include assessing the potential health impact of land-use policies and using community health data to help prioritize health and racial equity in land acquisition for conservation.īefore working in public health and planning, Chloe was a researcher and instructor for the Intergroup Dialogue programs at both the University of Illinois at Chicago and the University of Michigan. In particular, she has brought elements of health impact review and community health needs assessment into projects. Laura Barghusen is the Aquatic Ecologist at Openlands and works with local, regional, and state governments, communities, and other stakeholders to connect people to the waterways of northeastern Illinois through open space and water trail planning, biological monitoring of rivers and streams, legal and policy work, education, and events.
